As stated by the national broadcaster, the police were informed about the incident by the father of the possibly victimized 14-year-old, after his daughter wrote him an email during class.
The socialization center’s attendant, who allegedly harassed, has been suspended from duty.
Modesta Petrauskaitė, chairwoman of the Seimas Commission for Suicide and Violence Prevention, told LRT that the employee was suspended „only after two months“ from the report of the incident.
Henrikas Gaidamavičius, director of Gruzdžiai Children’s Socialization Center, linked this situation to a lack of employee competence.
„I would think that was the case, (…) because the whole basis is a simple thing. If any incident occurs in the institution, (…) first they should have informed the guardians, informed the police, informed child rights, suspended the person from duty, conducted an internal investigation,“ the center’s head told the broadcaster.

In turn, Deputy Minister of Education Jonas Petkevičius said that the change in the subordination of the socialization center controlled by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport is being discussed.
„This center is more focused on social assistance, perhaps sometimes health assistance, and education is only one of its functions. Therefore, we are consulting with the Ministry of Social Security and Labor, perhaps the Ministry of Health, to whom this center should belong,“ the deputy minister stated.
Gruzdžiai Children’s Socialization Center is a specialized institution assigned to general education schools for students with difficult behavior, for whom a measure of moderate supervision or educational impact has been assigned.
