Vilnius resident Aušrinė has celebrated the birthday of her mixed-breed dog Runa for the third year in a row this year. Although the owner does not know the exact age of the pet, as Runa was taken from a shelter, this year she symbolically turned nine.

The idea to hold pet birthdays came naturally to Aušrinė. Aušrinė says that Runa is not only a pet to her but also a close friend and daily companion.

“We do a lot together – we travel, taste food, pick up trash from the sea, go to exhibitions. She really is my friend. Since we celebrate the birthdays of human friends, the idea naturally came up to also celebrate her birthday,” Aušrinė told 15min.
