Latvian border guards turned back 18 migrants on Saturday, while no attempts to illegally cross the border were recorded in Poland on Friday.

As BNS reported, Latvia has recently been experiencing increased pressure from illegal migration from Belarus.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, comparing January–June of this year and last year, the secondary migration flow from Latvia increased from about 300 to more than 1.2 thousand foreigners detained in Lithuania.
This year, a total of 929 illegal migrants were not allowed into Lithuania. Last year, there were more than 1.6 thousand attempts to enter the country in unauthorized places from Belarus, and the year before that, this number was 1002.

Since the beginning of the migration crisis caused by Belarus, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 25.5 thousand foreigners from illegally entering the country.
The influx of migrants into the eastern EU members from Belarus began in 2021, with the West accusing the Minsk regime of organizing it.
