In Klaipėda, around 2 p.m., thermometers showed 26 degrees Celsius.
It would seem like perfect weather to go to the seaside and enjoy sunbathing or cool off in the Baltic Sea.

However, as shared by lifeguards working on the beaches of Klaipėda, there are only a few people by the sea. The water temperature around 2 p.m. was 17 degrees, almost the same as the air temperature – 18 degrees.
“Fog rises from the sea and a northern wind blows, which cools the air. Just 300 meters away it’s warm, but by the sea it’s definitely cool,” commented Aleksandras Siakki, who leads the Klaipėda lifeguards.

As the lifeguards noticed, quite a few people do come to the seaside, but as soon as they arrive, they head home or look for shelter further away in the dunes.
Only a few are swimming as well.
“It was similar on Sunday. There was also fog and it was cool on the beaches,” said A. Siakki.
